My Process
A clear, collaborative process from strategy through launch and beyond. No surprises, no guesswork.
Strategic Analysis
The planning phase is where the best websites are won or lost. Getting it right here makes every decision that follows easier and the end result much more effective.
I’ll send you a document ahead of our kickoff call so we can hit the ground running. We’ll align on goals, project scope, and expected outcomes with everyone who needs to be in the room.
After our initial meeting and developing the project scope, I may perform a website assessment or a content analysis. These help me understand the health of your current website and identify where it can be improved.
Implementation
Design
The website design phase is where you get to see how your goals will be carried out. I present 2 to 3 design directions and iterate on your chosen direction, incorporating your feedback until it's right. Once approved, the design moves into development.
Develop
I build your website on the platform that best fits your needs. From scratch, I follow best practices to make sure the site is fast, accessible, and performs well. Third-party integrations happen at this stage too, and finalized content is loaded as you provide it.
Ideally, development takes place in a staging environment, leaving your current site intact while I build the new one in a separate location you can view and test before it goes live. I can recommend hosting services that include a staging environment if you need one.
Test
Before anything goes to you, I run my own internal review, checking the site across different browsers and device sizes (large screens, laptops, tablets, and phones) to make sure everything looks and behaves exactly as it should.
Review & Approve
Once it passes my internal review, I present it to you for a final walkthrough. Your approval is the green light for launch.
Execute & Launch
Launch
Once approved, the site goes live. If the launch involves a DNS update, I’ll schedule it at a time that minimizes any disruption to your current visitors.
These same principles apply whether I’m making enhancements to an existing site, rebranding from the ground up, or building something brand new from scratch.
Post-launch, I offer maintenance packages to keep your website up to date and running smoothly.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a typical website project take?
It depends on the scope and complexity of the project. A straightforward small business site might take four to six weeks. A larger site with custom functionality or a full redesign typically takes two to four months. I will give you a realistic timeline during our initial conversation, and I stick to it.
What do I need to provide to get started?
Before we begin, I will send you a document outlining what to gather, so nothing comes as a surprise. Typically that includes your existing brand materials, any content you have ready, access to your current site if applicable, and clarity on your goals and audience. We figure the rest out together.
What happens after my site launches?
Launch is the beginning, not the end. I offer maintenance packages for ongoing support, updates, and improvements. If you ever have questions or need changes after your site goes live, I am here. Many of my clients have worked with me for years after their initial project.
Do you work with clients outside of Massachusetts?
Yes. I work with clients nationwide. Most of the project work happens remotely, and I am comfortable communicating by video call, email, or phone, whatever works best for you.
